Mr. Knop grew up in Savanna Il.  After high school he attended Western Illinois University.  He graduated in 1993 with a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education.  Mr. Knop then earned a Graduate Assistantship and attended Northern Illinois University to pursue Graduate Studies in Secondary Education.  His first teaching and head coaching job was in 1995 at Illini Bluffs High School. 

In 1997, Mr. Knop returned to the Savanna School District where he initiated and taught in the Regional Alternative Program. In addition, he enjoyed coaching wrestling, football, and track for many years. In 2000, Mr. Knop went to teach Physical Education in Savanna High School until consolidation in 2005. Following consolidation, Mr. Knop continued to teach at West Carroll High School until 2014. During that time Mr. Knop completed his Masters’ Degree in Industrial Management from Northern Illinois University.  He then went on to study Educational Administration/Leadership and completed his Administrative Certification.   

 In 2014 he enjoyed a new teaching assignment in the West Carroll Primary School as a physical education teacher and part time administrator.  His background is diverse allowing him the advantage of seeing education from a variety of angles.  It is his desire to strive to create a positive learning environment that involves team work and high expectations towards organized goals.  Thus, creating a learning experience for students that instills pride and a joy in growing through education.
