Syllabus

Tracy Kostallari, 7-8 Special Education Classes:

7/8 Math, 7/8 Co-Taught Literature, 7/8 Co-Taught Language Arts

Greetings Students, Parents, and Guardians!   Please read through the following syllabus, sign the bottom portion, and return it to me here at the school. Thank you in
advance for all of your time and cooperation with me and your
child(ren). I am looking forward to working with all of you to ensure your child’s success!

Classroom expectations: All students who are in any of my classes will
be requested to enter the room with a positive attitude and a
willingness to work hard. My job is to prepare your child for the world
of work, college and for life outside of these school walls. His/Her job is to
meet me halfway by taking my instruction and doing his/her best to meet
all requirements prior to graduation. Together we can accomplish this task. RESPECT is the number 1 rule. We must all be better and treat one another with respect. RESPECT property, RESPECT boundaries, and RESPECT One Another.

Schedule:

Students will be required to participate in classroom readings and
discussions almost every single day and will earn points for doing so. Math students will also complete a lesson each day in addition to bell work. Math quizzes will be given most Fridays.

Students are required to read Accelerated Reader books and take weekly quizzes.  Grades will be given for AR.   All work will be turned into a labeled folder near the teacher’s desk. This task is the responsibility of the students. I will return graded papers back to the students for them to keep in a folder and we will discuss any questions or confusing assignments students might have prior to the written work being placed into the students’ folders.

  • All work should be neat. Your college professors, trainers, and future employers will expect to be able to read information you provide to them. Even if you are performing mathematical calculations, someone may still have to follow your work or the chart you completed.

Grading Scale:

All assignments will count towards your grade. Students
might also earn participation points for daily discussions and for
actively participating in cooperative style learning groups and
projects. Students will earn points for each assignment(s)/test(s)/project(s). I will take your total points earned and divide it by the total points possible to calculate grades. Tests
and quizzes are also calculated. Classroom assignments are VERY important.

90-100%=A

89-80%=B

79-70%=C

69-60%=D

Plagiarism will not be tolerated. Use your OWN words when writing papers
and paragraphs or quote the author properly if you are using information
that is not yours. You will receive a warning for plagiarizing the first
time. The second offense, a written referral will be sent to the principal.
